Welcome to Momentum Artists!

Welcome to Momentum Artists! This first post is a very personal one, where I attempt to express a whirlwind of emotions related to the launch of this website, as well as the more official launch of Momentum Artists, which I started in 2015.

First, I want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to the truly amazing musicians who made this launch possible: Mark Berman, Yaron Gottfried and Alexander Walker. Thank you for your trust, patience, support, and good humor. I genuinely admire your art, as well as your courage and dedication to this wild, thrilling, and often brutal and unpredictable business of music. It is not an easy path to follow by any stretch of the imagination.

I also want to thank my brilliant web designer—who is so much more than a web designer—and who helped me put this all together in ways I could never expect and that go way beyond our agreed upon scope of work. Mark—you are a genius with a big heart. Hats off to you and I very much hope we’ll continue our collaboration.

I would be remiss not to mention that I am deeply grateful to the one and only Edna Landau—a legendary artist manager and one of the founding directors of IMG Artists—who has offered her priceless wisdom, guidance, and support in helping me start this new and exciting endeavor.

It would also be wrong not to mention LinkedIn. What an incredible enabler of human connection! I found most if not all of my current clients and partners either directly or indirectly through LinkedIn.

A few words about our philosophy—beyond what you can read in the “about” section of this site:

We genuinely believe that music can do so much more than we typically think. And it is that deeply rooted potential that we want to help harness through the projects we select. A potential to heal beyond our wildest imaginations. To unite despite the most dividing differences. To help repair this fragile world of ours.

These are the type of projects we actively support and seek to be involved with—regardless of genre, geography, or other factors.

Last but not least, there is one great musician without whom I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now—and that is my brother Slavik Khandros, who taught me that music is not simply something that you do. It is a way of life. There was a very popular Russian/Soviet song with a verse that goes something like “the music helps us build and live”. His own lighthearted but deeply meaningful version of that verse, while hard to translate to English, would sound something like this: “while music helps you build, it helps us live”.

Here’s to the innate power of music to help us live and be fully alive.

With much excitement about the journey ahead,

Lena
